Makawalu
Makawalu is a community organization, founded by a group of Kānaka Maoli student-freedom-fighters for the purpose of a united effort in protecting ‘Āina, the culture of their great Nation, and the restoration of Hawaiian Independence. The hui has been incredibly active in issues concerning iwi kūpuna (ancestral bones), mālama ‘āina (environmental conservation), and ea (independence).
If you're no stranger to Hawai‘i, then you may have had a Makawalu sighting, as the group protested the desecration of iwi kūpuna by Kawaiaha‘o Church and C&C Farmlands company in Kūnia... called out biotech companies for their bioengineered poisons (GMOs)... and challenged political corruption over that HEWA Rail. And that's just getting started...
The Palapala Ea is Makawalu's next big project in their Aloha ‘Āina campaign to fight for Hawaiian Independence!

Kanaka Maoli Declaration
Both the Online Petition and Mail-in/Physical declaration are for the same purpose -- your declaration in support of an independent Hawai‘i. The only difference is, mail-in/physical declarations will receive an Aloha ‘Āina certificate. Mahalo!
Kanaka Maoli Declaration
We, the undersigned, Kānaka Maoli, children of ‘Āina, sons and daughters from the sunrise to the sunset, Hawai‘i to Ni‘ihau, descendants of those who cared for these sacred places since time immemorial, as we do now, until time eternal, do proudly declare our support for an Independent Hawai‘i, free from the occupation of the United States of America, and whose government shall be decided upon collectively by Kānaka Maoli and Hawaiian Nationals.
In our declaration we stand, immovable, in our assertion that an Independent Hawai‘i shall be pono, whereby those values embodied by the Hawaiian Nation shall include Aloha ‘Āina, Mālama ‘Āina, the protection and care of iwi kūpuna, the preservation, protection and proliferation of Kanaka Maoli culture, language and rights, free and accessible education, free and accessible medical support, the capacity to endure for both humans and the natural world (sustainability), and the perpetuity of life.
We, the undersigned, Kānaka Maoli, do triumphantly affirm that in restoring our independence we shall undoubtedly become the most healthiest, happiest, and brilliant Nation on Earth. We stand, and will continue to stand, as Aloha ‘Āina! Eia kākou ʻo nā Kanaka Maoli, nā kama, nā kamahine, nā kupa hoʻi o ka ʻĀina, mai ka hikina a i komohana, mai Hawaiʻinui o Keawe a i Niʻihau o Kahelelani. Eia kākou ʻo nā ēwe o nā iwi e kūpaʻa mau i nā wahi kapu o Hawaiʻi, mai ka pō a i ke ao, lilo mau aku ā pau ʻole.
