Update on Dental Advocacy

In recent months, we  have talked extensively to our communities about the disparities in dental care and all the related concerns surrounding the topic today.  We asked what did people know about yester-generations and what they did to maintain their teeth.

From the collective efforts of teams on every island except Lanai (whose concerns are still being advocated, despite the fact that we were unable to go there), vital information has been collected to help us discern what kind of help is needed in each zip code.  Next step is to exchange information and begin to phase into the solution based aspect of this journey - targeting solutions that will:
 - initiate the process of increasing services to achieve a bright smile, not a grim "I haven't had teeth in awhile"
 - locate current resources and build with existing resources to create a solid program that will help us sustain a set of chompers.  Ahem! ...to save our "beautiful smiles!"

We will update you as we move further along.  Thank you for being with us on this journey.  The better we feel about ourselves in health, comfort and vanity (if I may call it that),  the better we will do.
